The "Concept 8" line of independent bottler Global Whiskey LTD from Glasgow is based on the lucky number 8, which is why all whiskies in this series are 8 years old, have 40.8% vol. and are composed of only 8 barrels.
Release 2 is a bottling from 8 barrels of the Caol Ila distillery on the Isle of Islay. The barrels were filled in August 2012 in barrels of American oak and brought to market in 2021.
On the nose, you'll find earthy floral notes, campfire and seaweed.
On the palate, the single malt brings notes of oatmeal cookies with salty butter, sawdust sweet vanilla and a hint of salt.
The finish is pleasantly smooth, slightly smoky and spicy.

Der Concept 8 Caol Ila 8Y ist ein Single Malt Whisky aus der schottischen Insel Islay. In der Nase zeigt er sich rauchig und torfig, begleitet von einer salzigen Meeresbrise und subtilen Noten von Vanille und Zitrusfrüchten. Beim ersten Schluck entfaltet sich ein intensiver Geschmack von Rauch und Torf, begleitet von einer angenehmen Süße und einer würzigen Note von Pfeffer und Ingwer. Im Abgang zeigt sich der Whisky von seiner rauchigen Seite, begleitet von einer leichten Schärfe und einem Hauch von Meersalz.
Der Concept 8 Caol Ila 8Y eignet sich hervorragend als Digestif, pur oder auf Eis genossen. Auch in einem klassischen Whisky Sour oder Old Fashioned kann er seine Aromen voll entfalten.
Nase: Rauchig, torfig, salzig, subtile Noten von Vanille und Zitrusfrüchten.
